Family Practice Nurse Practitioner (FPNP) for PRN/PT position
FPNP (PRN or part-time) sought to supplement a full-time Physician’s Assistant (PA) schedule at a rural health clinic affiliated
with Massac Memorial Hospital. The NP will typically work every Monday & fill-in for PA during vacation/illness. Expanded clinic
hours possible with increased patient volume. Duties include primary healthcare services including therapeutic, preventative
& health maintenance in clinic setting under direction of Medical Director. Take patient medical history, examine & treat
patients, make appropriate chart entries, develop & implement patient management plans, order & interpret lab tests & x-rays,
make diagnoses & prescribe medication & patient education. Support staff includes Clinic Coordinator &
Receptionist/Scheduler.
The nurse practitioner must be certified as FPNP & licensed in Illinois or eligible for license. Prefer prior physician office or
clinic experience. Possess excellent customer service skills with patients, staff & other contacts as well as possess good
written/verbal communication skills. Be familiar with Medicare, Medicaid & private health insurance & work with Medicaid
eligible population from infant to geriatric. Be well organized self-starter who is dependable in attendance & follow-thru on work
& familiar with HIPAA.
Massac Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital in Metropolis Illinois. CAH status allows the hospital to receive
better reimbursement for Medicare patients, assuring its financial stability. The ER services approximately 12,775 patients per
year and is staffed 24 hours a day. Massac Memorial Hospital is a fully equipped hospital providing services which include MRI,
CT, nuclear medicine, EKG, X-Ray, mammograms, ultrasounds, sleep studies, echocardiography, laboratory services, cardiac
rehab; physical and occupational therapy, home care services, and many community support services. The hospital also
provides an outpatient clinic for visiting specialist, so that patients do not have to travel far for specialty services. Massac
Memorial Hospital is also undergoing some exciting renovations which include an all new emergency department, same day
surgery, lab, patient registration, radiology, main entrance, and private acute care rooms.
Metropolis is situated on Interstate 24 halfway between Nashville, Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri, with Paducah, Kentucky
only 10 miles away. Metropolis is located on the banks of the Ohio River. The city is full of history. Metropolis is the home of the
oldest state park in Illinois, Fort Massac State Park. The park became the first official state park in 1908. The park provides
picnicking, camping, hiking, boating, fishing, skiing and hunting within its 1,540 acres of beautiful Southern Illinois landscape.

home of Superman by the IL House of Representatives in 1972. A 15 foot bronze statue of Superman stands at the foot of the
