Internal Medicine Opportunity in Metropolis, IL
Massac Memorial Hospital is seeking to add an additional Internal Medicine physician to their community. This physician would
join a group consisting of a Cardiologist and another Internist. This opportunity would offer a call schedule of 1:3. The
opportunity will offer a competitive income guarantee and partnership options. The proximity to Paducah Kentucky will offer
the physician a quality lifestyle and excellent practice opportunity. Massac Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed Critical Access
Hospital in Metropolis Illinois. CAH status allows the hospital to receive better reimbursement for Medicare patients, assuring its
financial stability. The ER services approximately 12,775 patients per year and is staffed 24 hours a day.
Massac Memorial Hospital is a fully equipped hospital providing services which include MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, EKG, X-Ray,
mammograms, ultrasounds, sleep studies, echocardiography, laboratory services, cardiac rehab; physical and occupational
therapy, home care services, and many community support services. The hospital also provides an outpatient clinic for visiting
specialist, so that patients do not have to travel far for specialty services. Massac Memorial Hospital is also undergoing some
exciting renovations which include an all new emergency department, same day surgery, lab, patient registration, radiology,
main entrance, and private acute care rooms. Metropolis is situated on Interstate 24 halfway between Nashville, Tennessee and
St. Louis, Missouri, with Paducah, Kentucky only 10 miles away. Metropolis is located on the banks of the Ohio River.
The city is full of history. Metropolis is the home of the oldest state park in Illinois, Fort Massac State Park. The park became the
first official state park in 1908. The park provides picnicking, camping, hiking, boating, fishing, skiing and hunting within its
1,540 acres of beautiful Southern Illinois landscape. Metropolis is also the only Metropolis in the United States, thus claiming
the home of Superman. It was officially declared the home of Superman by the IL House of Representatives in 1972. A 15 foot
bronze statue of Superman stands at the foot of the court house in Superman Square. The town is host to a large Superman
